CAN WE MOVE IN SOON?

Writer's picture: TT

A lot have happened since last post. Most time is taken up by everyday must does. The long wait for plumbing and electricians, the planning stage and the actual time it takes them to wire and plum an entire (tiny) house. When it comes to our time spending on building I must say we are pretty efficient and are working hard!

From the last time in April we have managed to fit all the windows and front door. The one window we can not install yet is the due to the Cedar that will be the cladding for the West wall. Which was ordered yesterday. Our house is starting to take good shape. We have managed, with a lot of help to put the bevel back weatherboards up and flashings around the windows and corners up. The utility cupboard in front of the house closest to the tow-bar is framed but not sealed/cladded yet. (this is where we will store all electrical stuff e.g. Batteries and converters for solar power as well as other storage stuff and a washing machine. The roof will hold our water tank.

There was a few hick-ups while we were putting the cladding up and almost had finished. The longest pieces that was going on the top (running from one end of the house to the other) was 50mm to short and we had to reorder the sheets, which put us behind schedule again. Like I have said before, there is always something wrong :P

We did not give up, and got this done eventually. After having a good play around with fitting the front door and our bifold window they now both work perfectly. We are not that keen on the indoor/outdoor flow!

Our Kitchen is going to be installed on Monday the 9th of July. So, we have got this week and weekend to finish the insulation and put cladding up, at least in the kitchen area. We where going to use ‘Green stuff’ for insulation but with such short notice we had to settle for Bradford gold which is an Australian insulation made from recycled glass and wool. Lets just hope it keeps us warm in winter and cool in summer.
